30 Efforts

For 30 days, I will share the joys, pains, and dirty little secrets of my life with multiple sclerosis. My goal is to find a reason to convince you to support/share my fight against MS. Please donate today: http://main.nationalmssociety.org/goto/eleanor.

Effort number one will be on August 26. This is why…

First, an introduction. My name is Kevin Byrne and I like to tell stories.
[They know that, Kevin.]

Well, here is something they don’t know. My stories are usually disjointed, slightly sarcastic, often self-deprecating, but usually serve the purpose.
[They know that, too. You said it to them in the first paragraph.]

OK. The value of my stories, the therapeutic comfort realizing you are not alone in this fight, often helped my readers. There is always at least one recipient of those benefits: myself.
[Obvious. Say something they don’t know.]

My inner voice is a jackass.
[Touché!]

As of this morning, an incredible army of donors and supporters raised Eleanor’s online donation level for our 2019 bike MS campaign to $24,185.71.

But wait, there’s more — Avangrid Renewables has committed $1,250! Thank you to our foundation director Richard Freeman for making this happen.

But wait, there’s more — support to NEVER STOP NEVER QUIT currently stands at $1,415.53. That will be a donation to Eleanor’s Bike MS campaign soon.

But wait, there’s more — as part of the 2019 Gala MS, NEVER STOP NEVER QUIT is the advocate sponsor. The donation level of $15,000 comes from your support directly to our foundation. A highlight of the evening will be an auction of the most incredible collection of wine we have ever assembled, all thanks to our foundation director Michelle Judd. Tickets are still available: https://www.nationalmssociety.org/Chapters/ORC/Fundraising-Events/Gala-MS.

There are more checks coming in and donations already planned. My next 30+ days will be a hard pitch to reach the $50,000 level of donation support Eleanor’s Bike MS campaign by the end of September. I start telling stories Monday morning. My goal is 30 stories in 30 days – blog posts to highlight the value, impact, and ongoing need for support in our fight.

Hopefully, my stories will inspire — sparking more people to donate and support my efforts as well as motivating those fighting alongside with me to continue their brave efforts (you are not alone).

Full disclosure: I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing here.
[They know that, Kevin.]

Anyway…my plan is to tell the stories of what multiple sclerosis has done to my life for the last 20 years. I don’t know exactly where this is going – I have just a few stories in mind – but the sensation that overcomes me in the morning, even before I opened my eyes, when I discover what I want to talk about for the day is the most peaceful exhilaration I have ever experienced.

I look forward to talking with you tomorrow!
Love,
Kevin

Hey, inner voice, how is that?
[Meh.]
Jackass…

Because it is a fight.
The fight is not over and it won’t be over until a cure is found.
It will never stop…nor will we
It will never quit…nor will we
This is why we ride!

100% of the royalties earned from my books go to the National MS Society, to support our fight: http://neverstopneverquit.com/books
